Trying to pull my idle down and diagnosed a faulty AAR. Interestingly enough... it isn't jammed up, rather the wiring/heat element aren't working. Would like to find a tested AAR - but not required. Would like to at least know that it has passed the ohms test. Not finding any help on replacing the heat element. Thanks in advance!

You actually can repair the heating element by using some "Kanthal A-1" wire found on Amazon by making a new heating element. Watch a couple of videos on YouTube about repairing broken heating elements for pottery kilns. It's the same principle. I just finished making 3 new heating elements for my wife's small jewelry kiln.
It's kind of tedious winding the wire around a wooden dowel into the round shape of the heating element. but with an AAR it would be a lot easier to do because the heating element is so short and small. You will need to use new small steel or brass poprivets to hold the heating element to the AAR's ceramic base component. My suggestion would be a last resort if you can't find a working used AAR. |
