Can someone tell me if my new Koni Sport 914 front inserts will fit into 911 Boge struts. I need to convert to 5 lug hubs and 3.5 calipers.

Thanks in advance,
Paul VDL

I seem to remember but they need the same Boge strut for Boge insert with the exception that you can buy Bilstein's for a 911 as I have , @ one time they were hard to find but haven't checked recently .Cheers.

As far as I know> when you purchase the Koni's their products list asks if you're installing into 911: Boge, Koni, or Bilstein struts...then order accordingly. Pelican is currently running a sale on Konis>>until 06.30.25, good time to buy.

I'm pretty sure the koni strut insert that fits a boge is different than the koni insert that fits a koni strut. The way I remember it;
Koni = koni
Bilstein = bilstein
Boge = boge plus koni & bilstein inserts made for boge.

Guys, I think you are mis-understanding the question.

I have the right type Koni inserts in my 914 Boge struts. These are available from vendors and are made especially to fit the Boge struts.

The question is will they also fit 911 Boge struts.

99% sure they will fit the 3” boge struts but not the 3.5”
You can always check directly with Koni.

Thanks mepstein,

That's what I was worried about. I have contacted Koni and am waiting for a reply which I will post if and when I get a response.

For the record, Koni finally replied after 1 week...

"The 914 front insert is Koni part number 8641 1077Sport. The ’74 911 Boge strut insert would be part number 8641 1039Sport. The body diameters of both inserts are 43.5mm, and the body lengths are very close to the same only a few mm off with the 1039Sport being a few mm longer. I can’t say that I have heard or seen anyone else ever doing so but it looks like it is possible, with maybe only slight modifications."

So, sounds pretty positive. I will get some Ebay Boge 911 struts and hopefully will be able to use my new Koni/Boge 914 inserts without have to buy new Koni/Boge 911 inserts.

Hey Paul thanks for this post, I have been wondering the same thing. I have a set of 3” 911 struts that I plan on using on my 914, they are not installed currently. I’m in Irvine/ Lake Forest most weekdays, let me know if you want to bring them in so you can check one before you buy a set, I’ll meet up with you

Your problem might end up being the taper at the base of the strut body. It's much higher on the 1039 compared to the 1077 but maybe the Boge body will allow that deeper diameter to fit?

Using the Koni 8641-1039Sport insert in a 3.5” 911 Boge strut needs a Koni gland nut.

The Bilstein gland nut works only with Bilstien inserts.
