I have a Permatune ignition in my '71 which after 40 some years needs replacing. Looking at the Permatune system that includes the control box, distributor and coil. Sounds like it is programmable like the 123 distributor.
My car has Webers and a Webcam along with some other head mods, etc. Anyone have experience with this? |

In the quick read I just did on their site I like this BETTER than anything else as a stand-alone stock style ignition system.
I've got a 123 which was my "simple" choice but it DID NOT have "standard incrementally adjustable" advance tables for both centrifugal and load as a stand alone FI system does. The 123 has pre-sets; shitloads better than old school weights/springs and vacuum pots but limited in its adjustability... I'm a waste spark/COP believer and was contemplating a MicroSquirt "ignition only" stand alone for a carbed T4. This looks like it will have full adjustability and be very easy to work with. What I could not find was a price... The 911 complete ignition kits look like 2K! Yes, this looks GREAT! If its $1500 it is not cost effective... I believe I could set up a MicroSquirt ignition only system for less than 1K and THAT could also run injectors down the road. |

This is not plug and play but is the path I would take if I was serious about a T4...
https://www.diyautotune.com/product/ms3pro-mini/ That is a BAD ASSED little unit! 600. You could probably find functional stuff in the $300 range NEW. Ignition parts/sensors would come from here. https://thedubshop.com/products/fuel-inject...gnition-system/ Sadly, the key is the cam sync sensor which is currently un-available. The V2 is an improvement. There are other crank sensors available for the T4 as well. Many require engine removal to install. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Running waste spark or COP inductive is more powerful than the best CDI units. You will already have 60% of a ultracapable EFI completed... 1K looks possible, especially if you use a cheaper ECU. |
