I just got my American Collector insurance renewal with a 95% increase in premium.

Is this true across all insurance companies?

Any recommendations? I use to have Grundy but switched to American Collectors for lower premiums.

I have American Collector insurance and mine went up 10 dollars. Also they upped my stated valvue.

For my ranger truck I use USAA and that has not gone up in a few years. Now that I have said that.............

I am in Los Angeles with Hagerty and with my 914-6 even at a $170,000 replacement and my 928 at $30,000 replacement, my policy went up very little

Mine went up 18% this month and only a couple bucks last year with Hagarty. I'll need to up the value after I get it running again, no point with it sitting idle.

914 with Hagerty is still the same.
Cayman with Hartford went up 10%.
Many of my coworker with 'normal cars' are reporting 50% increases.

+50% with Heacock Classic.

But $675/yr for a $25k 914 street car, a $10k 914 race car, a $30k 968, and a $6k 28' enclosed trailer is not hateful. I'll just sit down and shut up at those numbers (he says, in $1200/yr 2011 GTI dialect...I should just sell it and daily the 968...)

No noticeable change on mine through Hagerty, I would need to compare to last years bill to really tell. The 914 and VW Squareback are both on the policy.

Do you live in a newly declared “fire zone”? Up here I. The OC, every few years or after a major fire event, the OCFA redraws (adds more) their fire zones. It usually has drastic consequences our rates…

I use Leland west, they’ve been the cheapest and just as easy to work with as Hagerty when I’ve had claims.

Look at your deductible - many policies are driven by this since it can be a major risk component.

Also, the fire-zone is a real killer, my brother is one-house-over-the-line and is paying near double to what his neighbor is paying in Arcadia

I have Hagerty on two Porsche 914s, located in Washington State, and two Merkur XR4Tis and it is due this Friday at the exact same cost as it was last May a year ago.

The new California bill, SB 1107, mandates that minimum coverage levels double, so we might see a spike in rates. Progressive has already increased significantly for me, and while my AAA Classic policy on the 914 may also rise, I won’t know until renewal in a few months. But then again, what hasn’t increased in California lately….

It seems the huge rate increase is just American Collectors. I called to ask why and they just gave me the insurance actuaries answer.

I got a quote from Grundy and they are at expected premiums. I use to have Grundy and plan to go back to them.

The cost of the premium will vary by the loss "terms" and the state AND the insurance co underwriting it.

Here's a link to the California site: https://www.insurance.ca.gov/01-consumers/1...o/autoterms.cfm

Most people misunderstand the terms as equal .....but they are normally not.

So hard to know and compare.
