Anyone know of a good place that has alternators for the 914?
every place I have checked doesn't have them. I took mine to get it rebuilt and the guys said the internals we so old and in bad shape it wasn't rebuildable. |

I find it hard to imagine it's not rebuildable, unless you've been using it a a boat anchor in salt water. After all, it's highly unlikely anyone is making new ones any more.
These guys told me they could rebuild mine: https://www.chamberofcommerce.com/business-...uilt-electrical Last one I had done by a crusty old guy in New Hampshire and it was most excellent. If the above won't work I can find his info. |

Cars245 seem to have a supply. Shipping from Europe may be a problem.

while I am shopping
is the voltage regulator internal in the alternator or external? Should I replace the voltage regulator while doing the alternator? |

Any issues with work arounds on installing it or was it pretty much plug and paly? It looks just like the old Bosch one and bolted right in, no issues. It replaced a Bosch alternator that sat on a shelf for ~20 years, then died after about 2 miles of runtime. So - mileage-wise, it's been significantly more reliable than Bosch. |
