How to get this out? Wires broken at the under spark plug loop.
Guess I could just cut it and pull it out, but how do I get the new one in?
If I loosen a bunch of the screws that hold the engine tin on, would that get me enough space to get the new sensor to the spark plug?
OR is there some better way to do this?
Thanks for the advice.

Get a harbor freight 3 inch extension for 3/8 drive

Grind one corner off for the wire to stick through

Deep 13mm socket

And you can use this tool for removal/installation

No need to take the tin work off this way

Thinking about this, can I cut off the loop, bare the two wires, and crimp them onto a new loop. Would that work.

Just for clarification, this is NOT the cylinder head sensor that goes on the right side of the engine. This loop fits under one of the spark plugs against the cyl head and feeds signal to a gauge on the dash or console.

Then this is a different story. That sensor is most probably a type K thermocouple where the positive wire (yellow) is nickel-chromium (chromel) and the negative wire (red) is aluminum chromium (alumel). You will want this wire to go all the way to your gauge, do not switch to regular copper wire throughout its length.

The spark plug rings thermocouples are available at the Sensor Connection where you can configure it.

https://thesensorconnection.com/product/typ...nal-type?v=2378

As for the engine tin, you should be able to remove the thermocouple ring by removing the spark plug. Problem might be where the wire is fished through. This is not a stock installation and therefore could have been done many ways.

Hope this helps a little. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

My mistake then on the tool

You have to buy new
Cutting any wire destroys calibration as the engineer above explained better

Note that your Ring Terminal ID should be 14mm. Not sure about the length.

The above image shows website and part menu but not correct configuration.

Note that your Ring Terminal ID should be 14mm.

That will be determined by the heads you use (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

By the time you route it, I highly doubt 6’ will be enough.
Buy longer and cut or coil.

Now this becomes a bit annoying when you need to drop the engine. You can put a proper K-type thermocouple connector inline through (shown below).

At one point, I was even considering having a few bulkhead connectors on a panel in the engine bay so I could connect various thermocouples for temperature measurements (heads, exhaust gas, other…).

you could just run the wire down through the same hole the spark plug goes in.

It is easy to put the sensor on the plug then feed it down into the hole.

I have not had a problem with the wire rubbing through on the edge of the tin. but a little extra shrink wrap at that point wouldn't hurt.

What is that wire w/plug coming out of the tin just above the stamp 610 ,looks like the connection end of the ring sensor . Is there another wire with plug that attaches to it ,should go to the gauge. It looks like the wire goes under the tin as you mentioned ,might cause it to be rubbed through by the tin though .
