Need your help,
Drove car out of 10 month storage, idles but no power.
1973 2.0ltr was running fine when stored.
Filled gas tank with premium gas before storage.
Any advise greatly appreciated.

Carbs or fuel injection?

Guessing bad gas, especially if carbs.

Agree w/ Zach that bad gas could be a culprit. 10 months is a long time, especialy with carbs, unless it was treated with a stabilizer.

I feel like we really need a lot more information in order to be helpful. What have you done so far to diagnose it? Does it idle fine but then fall on its a** when you hit the accelerator, or is it rough at idle as well? Is it backfiring, does the exhaust smell like gas, have you pulled a spark plug to see if it is wet? Have you checked timing, fuel pressure, spark, grounds? Have you made sure no rodents have built a nest in the air cleaner? Have you opened the air cleaner and looked?

I guess it boils down to what you are hoping for. Are you completely lost and need a full checklist to run down?

A lot can happen to a car that has been sitting for 10 months. The fact that it was running fine when put away is helpful, but as you can see that is no guarantee that it will be running fine when pulled out of storage. Especially if it was stored out back under a blue tarp during a brutal winter (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

bad gas usually gets water separation in the tank.
you wil be getting backfires. and a lot of hesitation, cutting out.

i like the rodent suggestion re the air cleaner.

you guys have ethanol in the gasoline no matter what? or am i wrong?

full strength gasoline down here is just that. will last a year at least.
but ethanol blend stuff (10%) is notorious for going bad relatively quickly.
faster than 10 months thats what i have heard.
i would be expecting rough running even at idle with gas gone bad.

fuel filter partially blocked?
