It’s fine with adjusting up and down. It’s seriously loose with the in and out. At any speed it just folds in. Trying to figure out if it’s the nut behind the glass or at the base of the stem itself. Then… how to get to it! TIA

Take mirror off and turn it over, 10mm nut should be visible. Tighten up and reinstall.

Thanks. Are the nuts in the door captive or do I need to remove the door panel?

IIRC that nut needs a very narrow deep socket… i also remember it having a spring that compresses to tighten it up…

Yes, a 10mm deep 1/4 drive socket fits.

The one you want to tighten is under the glass
So you have to remove the glass from the mirror
It is held in the mirror with a thin plastic seal. It’s tricky to pull the seal out. A bit of prying without breaking the glass or bending of the lip on the metal that holds it together

Use your fingernail or a plastic lever. Do not use a screwdriver.

Also depends on whether you have an original or an aftermarket. My RH mirror is aftermarket and the body is chrome plastic. I also needed to tighten the nut underneath. If it’s “folding in” that’s what you need to tighten. I actually turned down a 10mm socket to fit, the space was really tight.

I also ground down a cheap 10mm to use as a “mirror” socket.
