I'm currently in the process of replacing both the Decel Valve and MPS in my 74 2.0l and find the current items are mounted strangely (in my opinion) and I wanted to know if they were original mounted this way or did the PO change something.

Both the Decel Valve and MPS are held to the right side wall of the engine bay with the same bolt, this installation seems strange. Is this how they should be mounted? Or was it mounted wrong by the PO? And, what kind of bolts/screws should be holding these pieces on?

Thank you

The MPS has a bracket attached by 2 screws on the bottom with 3 slots. There are 3 special rubber grommets that have a metal sleeve inside that are slid into the slots and then screws go through them into a panel attached to the body. The attachment screws are I think regular 6mm metric machine screws that go into tinner's nuts. The idea was to provide a bit of shock insulation for the MPS which is sensitive. There is a thread on this.

You can find replacement grommets at a couple of suppliers, but a lot of cars seem to have improvised solutions...

Not sure about the decel valve, but I don't think it is supposed to be mounted to the same bolts as the MPS. My car doesn't have one as it's a Euro-spec (GB) motor, not the same emission controls as USA models.
