Can someone please tell me where the small spring connects to the door panel so the pocket lid has tension on it as I do not see anything. Thank you.

There should be a hole in the door panel itself that one end of the spring connects to. If I remember correctly the hole has a small metal bezel around it.

Some pics I lifted off eBay. You can just barely see the hole in the vinyl side. On the back of the panel the small metal bezel is visible right by one of the clips that attaches the panel to the door. Note that if your door panel is a replacement it may not have the hole for the spring. For example I don’t believe the early ‘914 Rubber’ panels made of fiberglass had the hole.

Thanks for the reply and pictures. There is a small rip/hole in the vinyl there but no bezel. I will take the panel off and see what's on the back. Maybe I can rig something to work. Appreciate your feedback!

Look deeper gents. The end of the spring engages a hole in the sheet metal door frame behind the grommet.

Another case solved by the sleuths on 914 World! I will check my door later for that hole.

I was going to say, it anchors on the door, not the door card.
