Teeners, while I had the engine out I had hoped to replace is the speedometer boots at the tranny and firewall. Now I realize that may not be possible without pulling the cable out of the tunnel and dash. Has anyone successfully stretched the boots over the rear fitting?

I don't think it's possible even if you did remove the cable.
The 'nut' at the speedometer end is large and the hole in tthe boot is very small.
