New firewall bushing and tight in that area no slop. New bushing at the side shifter and some slop there. How do I tighten that up? Should I JB weld the bushing and center it more and make it tighter?

I wouldn’t think there could be that much wear on those parts. In theory the arm and shift ball should never touch. If the new bushing is loose in the holding side, I would try to order another bushing from maybe a better recommended site. All bushings aren’t the same quality. What you are proposing would probably work, but what happens for the next guy who needs to replace that bushing.

I would have to agree with the gentleman above. That would be a lot of wear on those parts. I just did this not long ago and the bushing was tight on the ball and snug in the cup.

I think I got this one from Pelican
