I'm trouble shooting my inop fresh air blower. I jumpered the connectors and can only get "high" speed to work. I assume that the relay is all or nothing, so does this mean that the resistors for the other speeds are shot?
I really only would use the blower once or twice a year when stuck in the rain (needing defrost), so I'm on the fence with pulling it or not. The only thing I don't like about the "high" setting is that it seems to melt the contact on the control levers. Mine is a bit melted and the one from my parts car is really cooked. Thanks. |

Thanks. been a while since i pulled and replaced mine, but at the time i took the resistors and tested them and they were ok, it ended up that the fan bearing and motor were going bad and this puts more current pull on the system . IMHO its worth pulling it and replacing the fan motor portion and putting on new seals. I think i did a documentation thread on this. My issue was it only ran on one speed and would blow a fuse on others, and it was because a DAPO crossed the wires when they installed it so the wires up underneath at the square fan plug were put in wrong. So verify that these are in correctly. URO make brand new fans with new motor. since installing the new fan and fixing the wiring i have had fully functional fan all 3 speeds. 914 rubber has the kit for the seals and gaskets and cables with gromets. yes the controls can heat and then warp, so making sure you have a clean set of controls with clean contacts is a must as well as verifying the ground as well.
