Great concept with the toppers.
Did you drill the cast shaft for the through bolt? I'm no lawyer either but those ratchet-style stands are known troublemakers. Stands with a retaining pin are safer. |

Great concept with the toppers. Did you drill the cast shaft for the through bolt? I'm no lawyer either but those ratchet-style stands are known troublemakers. Stands with a retaining pin are safer. Didn't drill through the stand. The bolt passes through the opening designed to hold old school axles. My gizmo clamps either side of the stand and nests snugly in the recess on the top. The bolt is a ⅜' carriage bolt that when tightened gets a pretty solid grip on the top of the stand. I'm not crazy about the ratchet style stands either so when I use them I always leave the jack or some other sort of back up in place. For extended work I use a quick jack lift. |
