I'm finishing up my door cards and have a question about the raised slots on the top of the metal caps. Is there a wire "last" that is supposed to be held in there? From what I remember, there was a 1/4 inch of foam glued to the metal and then the vinyl cover, and the metal top was secured to the door card by 7-8 tiny metal "tangs" on the back side.

I don’t remember any extra wire in the metal frame.

Any explanation for those raised slots? What are they supposed to do?

Pulled out my old vinyl and I think I have figured it out. Looks like the vinyl is folded and tucked up under the "tangs". I guess that forms the little shoulder on the door top.
Now two questions remain...1) was there anything else in that crease to hold the vinyl under the slots? That would be a logical place for wire...or 2) once the vinyl is tucked under, am I supposed to tap the "tangs" down the secure the vinyl? ![]() |
