There are many threads about this car - parked in 84, resurrected in 2017 by me.

Hell hole was bad, trussed and patched by my 16year old at the time.

Holes in the Plenum - welded and smoke tested under pressure - perfect.

Throttle body was leaky, sent it to a guy in this forum - sent me a different one that was rebuilt - seems ok,

the AAR was not closing all of the way - I cleaned and had it working a few years ago, it is not fully closing, idles at 1100 with the adjustment screw all of the way in.

HHHHhhhhhmmmmm, thought I had it working OK......hhhmmm

If I place my thumb over the inlet hose to the AAR, i can get to 900 with the throttle screw all the way in.

Question

Has anyone changed the holes size in the throttle plate to manage this issue?

Yes the plate seats well in the throttle body......springs pull it shut - completely,

Dont do it, the throttle plate is not your problem.

Most likely are not getting proper timing retard from the distributor at idle.

So, check timing at idle?
