Folks I am at a loss. My '72 1.7 with stock D-jet works almost perfect. But I can not get the engine to idle at higher RPM when I first start it.
So here is what I know. When cold the engine starts on the first revolution and idles at 900 to 1000 rpm. Same after warm up. I adjusted the Throttle Pos Switch today and exceleration at operating temp is much smoother and responsive (probably has nothing to do with the warm up idle). I pulled the AAR today and it works as it should. Checked (again) for vacum leaks and all seems OK. I did pull the oil bath air cleaner off and replaced it with a paper filter from a '73. So the engine no longer has an intake air pre-heater. So with that little bit of info does anyone have a suggestion? |

I suggest driving it and not worrying. I think that's more than "close enough for government work"...

ignition timing can have a significant effect on idle speed; check that.
