I disassembled the steering column for the six I am rebuilding:

In the previous picture, the two cups at the top are bearing races, with a bunch of loose littles balls. Did'nt put them in the picture, for fear of losing some.

Here's the bare column bolted in the car;

The silver thing abutting to the left side of the column (top in the picture) is the ignition switch interllock.

Here's the column with the wiper and flashers stalks in:

Finally, with the steering wheel:

It is quite apparent that the steering column is not in line with the axis of the car. They were built like that.

Oh, and the "foglight" switch to the right of the column is really the rear window defroster switch. It's the same switch with a different button. I have the button somewhere (unless I sold it) but put this in until I find it,
