I rearranged the LT1 wiring harness to terminate at a plug with all the connections I need for the engine. This plug plugs into the 18 pin socket on the side of the box. Below that is an 8 pin socket for the trans (starter, reverse lights, trans cooler pump).

On the other side is a power connector where the major current loads go in and out of the box. Above that is a socket for signal connections. (gauges, serial data, check engine light, etc.)

The inside has 6 relays, for switching everything controlled by the ECU, and one for the starter solenoid power. Everything is fused through that fuse panel in the center. The whole thing will mount about where the original relay board was.

They're old school "Cinch Jones" connectors. While they do not lock, they do require substantial force to plug and unplug. I will make sure the wiring is not tugging on them in any way and it should be fine.

Those aren't wire nuts! Those are crimps for joining many wires. I thought it was a better solution than trying to solder 4-5 wires onto a single connector pin, and I didn't have room for a terminal block.

Thanks guys! I'm trying to make this as clean a conversion as possible. This has led to serious complication, as it won't be a clean install if I have to go in later and add/modify something that I forgot or changed my mind about. I'm having to consider everything from the ground up, and remember what I'm doing, and do it all in the right order. To do this I have had to clear some brain space by forgetting all of the STTNG episodes I had virtually memorized... But on the plus side I get to watch them again for the first time.
