Brett

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but.. Speed is owned by the Bill LF NASCAR machine. It happened a few years ago. That is why it became the NASCAR channel. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)

I heard from a good source in SCCA that NASCAR was looking to start a channel, but found out that it could purchase the SPEED Channel cheaper. Speed Channel is in effect the NASCAR channel, that is why we don't see as much other series of racing as we used to.

What's next: NASCAR 24 hours a day!

Who wants to watch nascar anyway? Five hundred laps of 5000 pound cars slinging around an oval track at nearly constant speeds.

It would be funner to just GO outside and DRIVE a Porsche. Screw the NASCAR channel, right guys?

I don't begrudge fans of oval track racing/stock car racing their coverage but I sure as hell would like to see more sports car stuff on speed....that being said I don't think Saint Dale will convince anyone at Speed to change...whatever else you say about NASCAR...they are a money machine....and I promise you that the farce that took place at the USGP at Indy last year would NEVER have occured with NASCAR...their rulebook is "written in pencil" it's all about the "show" (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dead horse.gif)

NASCAR has certainly got closer racing than almost any other venue and just cuz they mostly turn left and have big cars don't mean they don't have balls to match. These guys are fast, prolly faster in equal cars than 99% of the guys on this web. It's good racing. Instead of whining on the board, just turn your TV off.

I can appreciate the Skill it must take to drive 3-wide at 190+.....

what I don't get is
WHY ANYONE would rather go watch > Monte Carlo vs Intrepid vs Taurus

instead of
Porsche vs Ferrari vs Audi vs Corvette vs Aston Martin vs BMW etc
where the Drivers actually BRAKE & make Right TURNS!

two races are on road tracks. try dover or bristol have you seen the size of the brake rotors for those tracks. and i've witnessed daytona 195+ end of front streach three wide less than a foot in front behind and along side. do that at sixty mph for three hours.
and these cars are running at 9.999 tenths just to maintain track position. get out of the darft and go to the end of the pack.
to me nascar is better than f1. scca is so removed from the media it just can't draw a tv audiance let alone draw a crowd to watch in person to see one or two corners. its too bad.

I am already awake...
Nascar is to autosports as wrestling is well wrestling! Havin said that, Tony Stewert is DAMN fast on the road course during the 24hours at Daytona. No doubt they are fast and they have talent.
Paul Newman said that real racecars turn right, brake and run in the rain! He was talking about the CART vs Indy Car debachel but the point is valid! And since Steve McQueen is dead, he is the coolest man alive!
Stock cars at Watkins Glen or Mid Ohio is some of the most entertain racing ever! But, alas, we are not the ones buying tickets and schwag...

As for us not know sh!t about the subject, well now is not why the Internet exsits? For porn and making comments on forums?

I like the parts that nascar produces... Sway bar goin up front, Brake and clutch system from wilwood is on my "to get", brakes are sick, engines rev high... All the cool stuff from Colemanracing.com....

but I hate the racing... The concept is to simple for me to like.. Oval corses are fun.. for a little... Im sure ill drive one a couple times... but braking, accelerating, G forces in more than one direction... Thats were the real racing is at..

IMHO.
