So my dad finally recieved the 914 I bought for him about a month ago. Tow truck delivered it last night. I told him that's how most 914's get around.
I haven't told him about this website yet. I think I need to ease him into the 914 world. He walked the car with me on the phone last night. I think he may actually like it. Unfortunately, it's not quite driveable yet (needs a couple of cables and the battery was dead. It might also need a starter) Mom wasn't too impressed, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) But dad said said the car looked pretty good. I said wait until you feel the fury of that 1.8 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) This will probably become his daily driver for a while, as my mom just wrecked her car, and is driving my dad's. My timing was pretty good. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm in Colorado, so I can't post pics. But I'll ask him to intorduce himself once the car is washed and running (with pics). Here are a couple of old pics form the previous, previous owner: Attached image(s) |

Thanks. He's a better Dad. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I haven't officialy told him it's his yet, (for diplomatic reasons) but i did ask him to register it in his name, insure it, and enjoy it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) The wife still doesn't know I bought it yet, but is very very suspicious. I'm not sure how I am going to play that card yet. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) The nice thing is, when we visit home, I can drive around in a 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

The only reason he bought the car was so he could say, "Dad, can I borrow the car?"

Well...............
The car starts, but it's not quite driveable. But it's close. Thanks AARON for helping out this morning. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) My master mechanic tells me that it needs a new pedal assembly. Apparently, the PO tried to screw the clutch pedal back on. My dad is working on a remote starter switch for the cab, b/c that's probably easier than trying to find the bad starter wire. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I think :fingerscrossed: with a new pedal assembly, this car should be ready for the road. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Hopefully I can get some time off to fly out and help him finish. But thanks again Aaron for helping out in my place. |

Tell your wife that the expenditure was the ransom that you had to pay to get
your balls back.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) That was a nice thing to do. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif) |

So i think the wife is pretty convinced I bought the 914. I told her I wanted to fly out to Cali this weekend, and her response was: "why? to drive back that junk car?" i guess the cat's out of the bag. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Talked to my dad this morning. He sounded really excited about wanting to drive the car. He told me he can't wait to drive it up to Big Bear (which is what I originally thought he should use the car for) He washed and vacuumed it on Saturday, and said once he got the top off, the car looked "great." Then he told me that he may not want me to come and pick it up from him. that's when I told him to keep driving it as long as he wants. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) He is about to become an official 914 owner tonight, as he is going to purchase his first set of jackstands (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I ordered a pedal assembly from Shea this morning (thanks eric). Hopefully Dad won't have any trouble installing it. |

Man....You married guys are all.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cat.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whip[1].gif) Actually, I have no fear of the wife getting angry. My biggest fear is that she will feel compelled to go out and spend an equal amount of money, "just to be fair". |
