Replaced fuel lines/filter and fuel pump mounts under the tank, was PSYCHED to find that it looks like I have steel lines going thru my tunnel already! Car was running a little bit different (slight racing at idle) after I put it back in...what's changed? do I need to adjust the fuel pressure or something? Also hope to mud the wall I built last weekend and start the painting for one of the bedrooms... Lets hear about all the good stuff thats getting done this weekend. Rebuilt an MSA 1000 still restoring files to it, after that I have to code a script to duplicate all the data onto a new NAS, and then maybe I will get out and build a gauge. Put the clutch nuts I bought last weekend on, etc....... Nothing on the 914 yet except dream about her.
Days like today I wish I sold peanuts at a ball field, instead of being in the IT field. Right now I am just sittin here watching the tape wheels go round and round, I really love to watch them roll. |

...oh yeah...got the CHT in too...what a pain. Actually cutting the socket was the hardest part of that task. Haven't had the chance to drive it to see how well it works.

Lets hear about all the good stuff thats getting done this weekend. I got hit with mandatory Saturday and Sunday work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I don't want to burst your bubble, but the first 5-6 inches of the factory fuel line under the tank is steel, then it turns into plastic in the tunnel. Watched as Aaron and Clayton (twystd1) sacrificed their lower backs hoisting the greasy lump, ahem pristine 69T 2.0, into the back of Aaron's truck. Took the fifty bucks from Aaron and bought beer. (Anybody thirsty? Come one over and help reassemble my 914.)
Installed the engine tin seal in the engine compartment of my 74, hoping like hell it's not upside-down. Installed and wired the taillights. Glued in 1/8" foam and then vinyl on the flat section of the dash. For the 5th time. Finally, I think it's good enough to stay. (By the way, use closed-cell foam for this. If you use standard open-cell foam, the foam will get permanently compressed wherever you touch it.) Installed the dash. Wiped everything down with lacquer thinner to remove the traces of Wurth spray adhesive. Realized that lacquer thinner turns 30 year old dash material from black to gray. Added "Black Vinyl Dye" to the Purchase List. Wasted way too much time reading this forum instead of working on the 914. |

I picked up a nice front chrome bumper from a '71!
Had bonus rubber strip on top in great shape! And I ordered some parts from Germany. |
