I am planning to drill rotors for 5-lugs. Does anyone have a source for 914 rotors that aren't drilled at all? I think there would be a great market for this, as well as 5-stud rotors for the 914. (Oh yeah, any source for these either)? I'm basically looking for a 5-lug with no holes.

if you can wait a week or so, I'll have pricing on a set of new hubs that allow you to convert to 5-lug and have 911 vented rotors without having to replace any other suspension component on the front...if you can replace front wheel bearings, then you can easily do this conversion.(uses 914/4 front wheel bearings)

(i know it shows 4-lug, but 5-lug is planned as well)

So what caliper will we have to run with that? Are you making spacer blocks for the stock calipers?

Mike, in 4 lug, will these be drilled for studs instead of threaded for bolts? I want to keep my 4 hole Mahles, but *really* want to go to studs.

Mike,

Will I be able to bolt up late (steel) 911S calipers or would I need adaptors?

How's my suspension coming? Not in a hurry just asking.

1)Calipers= still looking into this, a few options
*Stock with spacers
*M calipers (available cheap, since the 911 guys upgrade to bigger units)
(anyone have a set to loan me???)
*Boxster Calipers
*aftermarket calipers (not anytime soon, I want to focus on Porsche caliper alternatives first)

2)5-lug = studs only

3)4-lug = both studs and threaded versions are being looked at

Scott,

The middle of next week your suspension should be finished. Those calipers have a 3.5 inch spacing for the 911 struts, not too sure if they can be "tweaked" to fit the /4 struts. Do you have 914 or 911 struts??

Mike,

I have both sets of struts but heres the rub. The 914 ones are late ('76) and have the solid bottom. The 911 are 911T and have the split (pinch) bottom. I want to install the soild bottom ones for strength and safety. So...I can either wait for yours and hopefully put the steel 911S calipers on my late 914 struts or I will have to buy a new set of 911 struts (either late S or early Carrera).

Thanks for the update on the suspension.

Sportomatic cars came with aluminum calipers, so you have a few more options available. i used '69 911T Targa Sporto (!) struts on my /6 because they were the only ones with the combination of 3,5" caliper mount spacing and Boge top thread, so i could use my Boge-threaded externally adjustable Koni dampers...

Mike, If your hubs allow 911 vented discs running on standard 914 wheel bearings then I reckon you'll have massive interest. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif)
Are these billet with all the spot facing machined for the studs?
So the 911 "M" callipers have the same 3.5 bolt measurement as the stock callipers?

911 'M' calipers have the same -3"- mounting centers as the stock calipers...

911 'S' and 'A' calipers use 3,5" mounting spacing...

Scott,

If your following along at home on this... USE the 911 struts with the 3 inch bolt spacing. Anything else you use throws you into a totally different class with PCA and SCCA in our regions. Those pinch bolts have NEVER failed. Porsche switched to a different design because the ball joint supplier couldnt keep up with demand back then.

You own a 4cyl car. Its doesnt need anything larger than a 911 M caliper/pads.
