Thanks Karl.
I am going to try and find out if there really is a difference for the l-jet brains. I heard there are two different kinds and that they aren't interchangable. PP only lists one on there web site. Regards, Dave |

To check Djet ECU's I just unplug my good one and plug in the one I am checking. Then drive around for a day. If all goes well, its good! I do have a Djet tester now also that alot of the functions.

I just bought a d-jet tester (VW 1218) on ebay. I could have bought myself a decent digital camera for the same price ... at least the tester won't depreciate in value.

I bought a Janbo unit with all the manuals. I sent copies to Brad Anders as he didn't have the manuals for the same unit. It has a Pee brain that runs the engine instead of the ECU and then you check all the sensors and functions. Pretty cool.

FWIW My Bosch book says that there are two different 914 1.8L ECUs:
280 000 104 = CU65X = 1974 1.8L 280 000 111 = CU66X = 1975 1.8L Also, there are actually 3 different 1.8L FI harnesses, and they are each wired differently. The ECU connector has different connections, and the AFMs are different => 1 has 6 wires and the other has 7. |

QUOTE(bowlsby @ Oct 9 2003, 09:44 PM) ...FWIW My Bosch book says that there are two different 914 1.8L ECUs... This is true. To use a 74 Brain on a 75 car you will also need the 74 AFM with the 6 pin connector, and the 74 Harness. I though I had an extra 75, but when I put it in to test the car did not start. |
