RoadGlue.com has been working on putting together a wiki dedicated to the
914. It is far enough along that we wanted to put the word out so that people can both start using it and contribute content. If you don’t know what a wiki is, it basically is a type of web site that visitors can easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change the content. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for collaborative authoring. A wiki is not meant as a replacement for a forum as they both have different strengths. A forum consists of narrative threads that contain many posts while a wiki consists of articles that have been contributed to by many people. What this will do for the 914 community is allow for place to repository for encyclopedic articles about the 914 and 914 related items. This could range from many general history and technical articles to specific “how to” articles. The Porsche 914 Wiki at RoadGlue.com uses a content license that grants free access to our content using the “copyleft” concept. The idea is that the Wiki articles will remain free forever and can be used by anybody as long as they follow the restrictions of the license. The license is used to ensure that freedom. More details about the licensing can be found on the wiki itself. You can find The Porsche 914 Wiki here… http://www.roadglue.com/wiki On the main wiki page is some information on “Getting Started”. This should help both those or new and experience wiki users. We have also created a number of stub articles to help get people started. If you have questions about the wiki, you can visit the RoadGlue.com forums here… http://www.roadglue.com/forum I'd like to publicly thank Richard Casto for taking control and running with the Wiki project. He's done a fantastic job. Best regards, |

Randy,
Thanks for getting the word out. As you know, I am excited about the entire thing and hopefully my enthusiasm will rub off on others. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/boldblue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Richard |

VERY COOL.. Wiki's are great as long as they are maintained! Looking forward to it. Doug, you are right. As long as they have content, they are a good thing. I have tried to seed the wiki with some stuff to get it rolling, but we need those in the 914 community to step up and start adding content. At some point it is going to have enough of a critical mass regarding quality content that it will be an excellent resource for the entire community. Richard |

Paint codes are practically complete if not fancy. Im working on the VIN's, Engine #'s and chassis numbers now, and they will be up early next week.
As always, notify me with any errors you spot. |
