Last week CDI ignition, this week voltage regulator. Did some running around with her today. Got home thought I'd replace the ignition harness with the one Capt Krusty sent me. Got that done, started the engine, checking things out, brought the revs up, voltmeter starts reading 17 volts, oops.

Shut it down, pulled the regulator, 1 of the bars on the bottom rusted away. I'm surprized it worked at all. AND it waited until we were home to fail, is that cool or what.

Check out the pic, might want to check yours.

Get an electronic voltage regulator ... Borg-Warner part number R588. Used on T-IV Buses.

Has anyone ever tried Bosch's electronic voltage regulator? Part number is 0 192 062 007. According to the ratwell page on the VW charging system, it's supposed to be superior to both the Bosch mechanical and aftermarket electronic regulators.

Krazy Kapitan Krunchy, any experience with these?
