It was free apart from the 3 hours it took to get it out and the £50 I paid the truck driver to deliver it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
(IMG:http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d26/autohausdolby/image0334.jpg) (IMG:http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d26/autohausdolby/image0331.jpg) (IMG:http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d26/autohausdolby/image0341.jpg) It was here: (IMG:http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d26/autohausdolby/image0316.jpg) Which is why it took so long to get out. You can just see it on its side. Behind the 2 ovens are the body moulds and original shell for a March Porsche that apparently won at Daytona. The PO also has a 935 and this 962CK6: (IMG:http://www.groupc-gtpracing.com/images/Simonpullanporsche962.gif) |

Very nice . . . does it have any parts (oil tank, engine mount, etc)? It's come with a couple of hard to find bits - steering column, switches, etc. but most of them are missing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I've just had an oil tank delivered from Camp 914 and my arches to replace the factory M471 kit (that had been cut off already - boooo!) will be coming soon. The mount has been cut out so I need that - I've got a WTB post in the classified (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Is the VIN 9140431689? I see paint is 29. Is there a body # in the rear trunk floor? Keep us posted on this. |

That's right - I'll get the body number tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The story is: Car was imported to the UK in about 1983, I believe with the M471 arches installed already. It got bought by the previous owner in 1990-92 ish who realised it had serious rust issues, so the engine and transmission along with the headlamp bucket ID tag and some other parts migrated to a US import 4 cylinder shell in red. The red version of the car was raced for a while before being sold about 10 years ago to an English guy living in Switzerland. Before he could take delivery the red car got wrapped around a tree (apparently) by well known UK Porsche specialist Francis Tuthill. It was sighted by a couple of DDK club members here in the UK after it was wrecked, and the registration records show that it changed keepers in July last year so the wreck is still out there. The original shell stayed in a basement under an office building here in Sheffield since the re-shell and that's where I got it from. I first saw it in about 1996-7 and only got the courage to ask for it last summer - it's taken since then to get it extracted (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

That is most likely correct, thanks. Do you have the dash frame? There is a similar number on the bottom of it, but beginning with 130 (they added the year code). Looks rough, but you do have most of the numbers to build around. Can you get the missing numbers back from the crashed car? |

No dash frame (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) The car was "restored" by someone of limited talent in the 80s so a lot of the originality had already gone. I had to cut a patch off the floor to get to the body number (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I can't find the owner of the crashed car - I really want it so I have the complete set of paperwork. I think (if I'm correct) you'd say he had the "title" to the car but not much else. If I were to try and re-register it on the original chassis number I'd most likely get involved in some big long wrangle about who actually has the rights to the number (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

Since the project is such sad shape I think you have pretty free rein on what to do with it. Strip to bare metal everywhere. Primer what does not need to be worked on. Make a list of what is required, and we can try to help there.
