You need tabs on your A-arms, and you need the triangle pieces that reinforce the sheet metal where those plates mount..
Hold on, be right back.. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/9...ont_swaybar.htm With that, and some super heavy springs in the back, you'll be able to drift your ass off! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) M |

Your wasting your time with a stock front bar. It was designed in 1970 for 60-80 lb rear springs. Do you really think it helps with todays tires/shocks/springs ??
Oh.. and Dave D can tell you about the cheater kit.... again... Do it right.. do it once (worthless piece of shit that shouldnt even be listed in somebodies TECH area) If your too lazy to remove the tank.... you dont need sway bar. (cracking his ass because I can) B |

Correct grasshopper. 1976 or so (give or take a year). Europe had the turbo before we did.

Most people pull them out... you should be able to find a stock 18mm. Check shops who work on 930's and ask them if they have one laying around.

Not everything we need is for sale. Sometimes you have to ask for it. I come across some awesome deals by contacting shop owners and ASKING for what I might need.

Yes. But you still have to drill the holes... make a nut plate... cut the inside frame rail.. and make sure your control arms have the tabs.
Another reason why I like the mega-buck Smart Bar... your control arms dont need the tabs on them. B |

Yup. It's easier, but more expensive, to buy the nut-plate already made.
A stock front sway bar and 100# rear springs are a pretty good match. If you're going with more rear spring rate, you will need more front sway bar or larger front torsion bars. The Tarrett piece is a work of art... Never ever ever ever use the "no tank removal required" kit. It is just two U-bolts per side, and it'll tear through in short order. Really sucks. Sadly, I don't control what stuff goes in the catalog. If I did, I'd s**tcan those, the four-to-five adaptors, the 009 distributor, and a variety of other "suboptimal" parts... --DD |

well im buying some 914/6 control arms and going with a stock swaybar of a 6 for now(if I can get it cheap enough). Figure that and 150s in the rear is better than nothing. I will go with the permanent triangle mount. Hey how do I know if my struts are still good without tearing them apart? There is no leakage and the car rides decently when it has a motor in it, lol. Would it be ok to upgrade the springs and keep the stock Boge(orange) struts for a short period of time?

boge = black
koni = red/orange orange strut eh? front or rear? 914/6 or 911 control arms require different torsion bars, the splines are different, and i think ball joints are different then late model 4 cylinders (correct me if im wrong) . This post has been edited by acox914: Nov 30 2003, 10:16 PM |

The 9146 control arms have different torsion bars... make damn sure you get EVERYTHING. If the person doesnt have the rear torsion bar adjuster cups ... run. Yours will not fit. The spline count is different between a 4 and 6.
Push down on the car hard and fast one side at a time. If it bounces more than 3 times.. the shocks are toast. B |
