Coincidentally I just watched the original version of the movie "The Italian Job". The first minute or two has a guy twisting through the mountains in Italy in a Miura. Unfortunately things go bad pretty quickly for him when he hits a large Caterpillar bulldozer blade-first. Great flick! The car was awesome too. In the proper bright red of course.

Ok, I'm not drunk, but I just got snubbed, so here we go..

I was 16, and got a 'job' working in Atlanta at a place called the Exotic Car Store helping around the shop with body work.

So me, my slightly older friend, and an old guy doing engines.

One night, we ate some ludes, and drank a couple beers, and I found myself behind the wheel of the ex- McQueen Muira doing near 160, and lost my license for 8 years.

It's usually funny, I guess I am in a mood.. there is more to the story, but those are the talking points..

OK guys - careful ragging on the green color. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chatsmiley.gif)
Don't you know the best lookin 914's are either green or yellow!

I happen to have a Ravenna green 914 - very similar in color to the Lambo. Ya gotta admit - that's one sexy car!

The Muira is my favorite mid engined car I can't afford.
I never watched the tonight show until I found out Leno was a car buff and has a Muira collection. I also heard he's fighting for us Californian's with the smog laws.

A fabulous car -- one of my favorites and I don't think they are actually "that" expensive as far as vintage exotics go ?

I have seen an orange one several times around the SaMo airport hangars, and also a purple one at the BH Concours a few years ago.

A little hystory to go with The Miura pic.

Mr. Lamborghini, a wealthy industrialist, owened a Ferrari. Took it to get serviced one day and it turned out to be a week. He got so pissed off he started his owen car business. The Miura wasn't his first but when it was born, Lamborghini had it driven to the front of the Monte Carlo Casino one night and the crowd was around the car NOT in the casino. It pretty much started the wars between Ferrari and Lamborghini.

The car wasn't all that great to start with. The engine and trans shared the same oil, like the orginal mini. Since the engine was trans versely mounted and they used carbs made for a longitudly mounted one...during sudden stops, the fuel would not get to the carb and the engine would die.
The first model was the P-400, the Miura name was attached, then the S then the SV. With each model they cured some of the problems. The SV is teh best. Correct carbs and seperate trans and engine oil.

After you hear all that induction sucking 50 cubic feet a second, everything else is fair weather... who was asking if their djet should be making sucking noises at idle? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

It's a beast, the power comes down like a mountain. It's exotic, and it's spartan. I liked that car best of all cars, ever.

You sit in a position a bit like you sit in a 914 in the last notch of recline, except in a 914, the wheel is about 2 feet closer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) the pedals make up for it, they are at your knees. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Has anyone ever actually seen the guy who designed it? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

We need a knuckle scraping smiley.

Back in 76 I drove a Jarma Lambo from Portland to LA for one of our drivers. took my wife, we had a ball on Hwy 1 he just had it restored at a shop there. It was the fastest car I had driven. It was a great trip. not many Jarmas around.

Yeah, the coolest/uncoolest, depending on if you own it or not... (and it breaks) part of the short run exotics is the differences from car, to car.

I saw a saw a Maserati Merak SS for sale when I was looking for my first teener, only about 3 times as much.. not half_of_one_percent of the car a Muira is, but looks Ital_Teener_Poseur enough for me, and more dramatic than a Ferrari 308.. although the GTB is neatish, unlike Wayne's, and Thomas Magnum's. (hey! my first public dig on wayne!)

Yellow is faster if not a bit invisable.

Let's all agree to turn back time... anyone have a Delorean? I saw this movie, about this kid who had this scientist friend, and....

There is a Muira registry, the car I know is somwhere in the wild, or destroyed..
