I guess I pick a number between $7500 and $11,200?

Hmm, around $9000 sounds about right! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/givemebeer.gif)

Join PCA if you already aren't a member and then go to their site and click on the member services link. You will see it then and follow the links to the forms to fill out. Pretty damn easy.

I hope you wont take this as a personal attack Geoff...its not meant that way...but I gotta rant on this..

I've seen those PCA valuations before...and never gave them too much merit. What kind of meaningful value comes from looking in Hemmings and newspapers for their advertised prices? Few 914 owners promote their cars in Hemmings...Vintage, collector or just plain old - choose your favorite verb - our cars rarely sell (their true value [what someone else actually pays you for it] for the advertised price. Most cars sell for 65-80 percent of their advertised price because that is their true market value. We all know of cars that sell for vast sums...that would blow the PCA numbers out of alignment.

I personally track high value 914s on eBay. The selling prices are of public record and are meaningful. I can show that to my insurance co. with supporting data to show condition if I care to inquire about a particular car enough and its believable
.
The primary consideration determining the value of our cars is not its year, equipment, color or...

Its all about condition.

I would like to beleive that most of us would rather have that nice original 70 1.7 for $5500, than a 70 Sixer for $5500 which would be essentially a parts car, and largely incomplete at that. Unless greed sets in...but you cant drive greed... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Notice there is no photo of a specific car and its mileage, equipment...yada, yada...

These PCA valuations may have limited value as one of several tools to help persuade an insurance company of the approximate value of your car if a claim needs to be made, but without a specific statement of value (not a range), there will surely be arguments about what condition [and hence value] is appropriate to your car ...

Interesting. The last time I looked at the site, they wouldn't do values on 914/4's or 924's.

Wow! Seems like the prices are up on the 914's. They valued my 1970 914/6 quite highly...

No offense taken Jeff, but I did this because my new insurance company wanted a Valuation for my stated value and would accept this.
What do your ebay number look like?? Yes, I know the LE seem to be selling at a premium but what about the other nice cars. To me 75% of the EBAY cars are barely in "Good condition" most are in "Fair" to "Parts" cars. In other words, rusty.

Is my car a shining low mile prefect condition example? Only in my eyes I am afraid but it is a nice car, mostly orginal and would be hard to replace. That last part is the key to valuation for the Insurance company, right? "How much is it going to cost to replace the car with a car in similar condition?
I think the prices for the nice cars say in the top 20% of 914s is going up steadily every year. Why? supply and demand, simple.

I don't mind being in mine deeper than I should, never have... mostly.. thought that I spent too much on a 914... they average out to be pretty good transport, and a real hoot to drive..

I wish I had a good AAR.
