I seem to remember a thread where Mr. Brad Roberts posted pics of an early, early /6 that had the seam between the front fender and the cowl that was all one piece (or welded together).
Can't seem to find the thread or pics. However, has anyone done this on a reconstruction/re-do of their 914? Seems like it would be a good idea if building a non-concourse car.... |

Yeah that is it. The #4 914/6. Can't seem to find the pic/thread where he is showing the seam welded at the cowl/fender area.
Search tips anyone? |

This 914-8 pic has a good view of that, too.

I like the fuel filler in the hood because it gives you more finish paint to hit with the filler nozzle. No sense having a nice hood if your fender is dinged up... ding u p the hood too.

Most likely, those seams are leaded not welded.

QUOTE(boxsterfan @ Jan 10 2004, 02:06 PM) I was wondering if anyone welded the other seam also (see pic that I drew arrows on). only the early prototypes, like brad's #4 had that and there is a reason why the factory didn't do that for the actual production models. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) this is a stress/flex area. it'll crack ... Andy |
