hey, im in redlands

hershel riley knows his stuff, but since its his hobby, he is usually working on his car, or at his work

if a shop needs to do the work, i take it to precision motion in riverside (near the 215 and 60 interchange)

they know their stuff

another shop was frank and kits (kit rebuild my motor about 13 years ago), but both have retired, and franks kids expanded the shop alot, so its a bit too generic (and expensive now)

There's also a specialist I worked with in Riverside; Jay Ward. Great guy, certified from Porsche on the 914 and many, many, many, many other models. A little pricey but you won't get shoddy work. Ever. 951-961-3252

What kind of work do you need to have done? There are a bunch of very qualified 914 tech's here in SoCal, but each time I used to take my car in, I paid a ton of $$$$ for what I still think was so-so work. I have slowly advanced in working on my own 914 starting with minor repairs working up to more major work (I'm pulling my engine in about 2 weeks).

The folks on this BBS are amazing in their suggestions, recommendations, and even offers to come over to help.

I'm not saying this is for everybody. Heck, you may be so up to your ears in cash the idea of turning your own wrenches seems ridiculous. But I am not in that classification. Additionally, with each project I know a LOT more about my teener, and my confidence has slowly grown.

Just a thought... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) and good luck!

Thanks, yes I know Jay Ward and he is a great Porsche mechanic.
I was hoping to find some one that maybe worked from his house or loves to work on the 914s.
Jay is great, but his shop will soon be moving.
Looking for some one that can put in a new dash and nos muffler and just keep the car running right.
Thanks
Gary

Im just in Oceanside on the weekends, the rest of the week Im in Redlands.
I dont need much done right now.
Im just looking for some one in Redlands that I can swing the car by when something does need to be done.
Its getting kind of hard to find a good person to work on the 914s, that is to do it right.
Thanks for your help.
