Today I pulled the trigger on a used Ammco 6,000 lb. scissor lift. Aprox. 7 years old and built like a brick shithouse (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This lift goes up to 48 inches. Can't wait to get the 914 on this badboy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

your back will thank you... are you putting in ground? The pics show where the lift will be going, aprox. where the covered 914 is. It is outside next to my house. When I had the house built I had a 30 foot long pad poured because at the time I had a big boat. Boat now gone replaced with 914 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I think I'm either going to purchase some steel/aluminum maybe 1/4 inch thick for the " roller " part of the lift to sit on. I think that will help the concrete survive the constant movement of the roller wheels. I know I'm going to have to build some ramps out of 2x10 or 2x12 lumber for my 911 to clear the height of the lift. My 911 has been lowered and has little clearance. I don't know what kind of clearance the 914 will have but ramps are good either way. I wonder if a piece of 3/4 4x8 pressure treated plywood would standup to the lift being on it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I'll send more pics once I have the 914 on the lift. Congratulations, I am in the market as well.
IMHO, it would be worthwhile to weld up some metal ramps rather than using the wood, and I would definitely not use press board. If you have to use wood I would go with at least 2 x 10 pressure treated lumber. |

Over the weekend I was able to get the lift off the trailer with my testicles still attached (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) and got the lift into position. Today I used it for the first time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) what a great item this is. Lifted the 914 from the ground to 48 inches high in about 30 seconds. It was effortless and will make the install of the 3.0 and tranny much easier. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

lift... interesting... where are you osceola pkwy area? wanna look at my car (on your lift) tomorrow when it gets here? lol... no... seriously... Would love to but currently my 18 foot car trailer is parked over the lift. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I'm afraid I am out of space and have rendered the lift unuseable for the moment. I need to try and fit my trailer in the back yard. I'm in southeast Orange county about 5 miles from the airport. Sorry I can't help you at the moment. |

Steve, When you get brave enough to drive to Tampa, you can put your new car on a real Lift (man, I can't believe my garage was ever that clean & empty)

QUOTE I know I'm going to have to build some ramps out of 2x10 or 2x12 lumber for my 911 to clear the height of the lift. My 911 has been lowered and has little clearance. I don't know what kind of clearance the 914 will have but ramps are good either way. Nice Lift! I have the same one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) My cars are also too low to drive over it so I built wood ramps to solve that problem. I have different length 2x4s that go between the ramps to space it for the 914 or the 911. Only recommendation I'd offer is go with the wider ramps so you don't need drive up 'exactly' to not hang the tires off either side. ![]() Next upgrade is to put cutouts in for my scales... |
