I will be needing a external oil thermostat to feed my front mounted cooler for my 3.0 /6 conversion. I know about Mocal and I think they are good price and quality but I'm wondering what you guys are useing? Will need one with -12 AN fittings.

MOCAL has worked great for me. Just be careful with the AN fittings, the aluminum is soft and could be stripped by ham-fisted overtightening!

Pretty good thread here on +/- of each t-stat and whether to even have one. Too bad Troutman's not available. It's good to have options. Looks like I'll be getting a Mocal.

The Troutman was priced about half way between the Mocal & the factory unit and had the bypass feature.
To the best of my knowledge, those were your choices. |

Would it be worth it to try to find a used factory unit from an S or an SC?

Would it be worth it to try to find a used factory unit from an S or an SC? Sure, but getting an old used one disconnected from the lines without boogering them up is a challenge, I hear. Dissimilar metals are the problem as I understand it. No personal experience. |
