Alright, first off, I want to apologize to everybody that had the unpleasentness of reading that last post of mine in the "oil for type IV" post, particularly Jake Raby.

I didn't mean to rip on you or anybody else. Not that it's an excuse but in my own defense, I found out yesterday that I'm not going to be able to return to work for quite some time. As some of you are aware I had surgery on my shoulder back in August, and after 6 weeks of healing up and expecting to go back to work, it didn't happen. The doc put me on restriction and my company's policy is, unless its a work comp case, they cannot accomodate me and allow me to perform light duty work. So basically, until I'm off restriction, I can't work.

I thought everything was going well until Sunday night when I started having terrible pain in my shoulder- almost as bad as it felt the day of my surgery- and bad enough that I ended up drinking half a bottle of rum (virgin, 'cause spiced rum sucks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)) just to get to sleep. I thought if it was still bothering me on Monday I'd go to the emergency clinic, and I ended up going to get an anti-inflammatory shot and some pain pills.

Well, yesterday I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon after my first 4 weeks of physical therapy. I filled him in on the pain issue and he decided to get an X-ray done just to have a look. As fate would have it, one of the anchors he put into my shoulder bone has come loose. So basically, he has to go back in there, pull the anchor out, and insert a bigger one. Which means at least another 6 weeks of not working; which will probably turn into another 10 after I get started on physical therapy again.

I tried not to let it get to me but when you're a work-a-holic such as I am, 10 weeks just sitting around the house, waiting to heal up can be a real bitch. When you hear that it's likely going to be another 10 weeks after a second surgery, it's an even bigger bitch. And when you think about the fact that it's going to be at least another 10 weeks before you can start working on your teener resto again, and you're ready to tear someones head off... literally.

By the time I posted that message I was pretty well liquored up and pissed off about the whole situation. Trying to win a losing argument only added fuel to the fire and I blew up on the wrong people.

So if its worth anything to you guys, I'm sorry for doing that. I didn't mean it and I think you guys are the smartest bunch of teener enthusiasts on the world wide web. This one's for you... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

...And Eric, I think that if I wasn't so angry at the time, I'd have gotten a huge laugh out of your jokes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

No, maybe I'm the one who should apologize! It's not the first time I've resurrected an old thread...

I learned from Gint how to do meaningful searches on the site, I try not to start a new thread when something already exists on the site. After reading Panorama October 2008, I found that old poll, voted and wrote a summary of recommendations. I didn't see anybody here who posted about it.

I respect what everyone has to contribute but I did think it was an innocent post, kinda like reporting a published article in a no spin zone of sorts. Man, did it spark replies!!! So let's all be friends! And Brad Penn may be the best out there, I didn't mean to marginalize all of the great work Jake does to make our cars better.

Meanwhile, I'm an orthopaedic surgeon. PM me db if you'd like.

We all have bad days. And for the most part we are all friends or family. Don't let it get to you.

I understand as I was laid-off and not working is driving me bonkers. If I had income I could at least buy car parts and play with my cars. And I just had my 8th knee surgery.

Bottoms Up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

No need to apologize.. It was just a debate and people DID learn from it even though it was heated.

Its no big deal, this is just the internet and its just oil and engines.. I do really stupid shit when I drink, so I only do it once a year or so... I drank enough in far away countries as a Marine for the rest of my life.

I take all of this seriously and because of that I appreciate your apology. This wasn't the first heated battle I have had here and it damn sure won't be the last. I'd be disappointed if everyone agreed with me- don't worry about it.

That's very big of you Brian, I wish everyone could be as honest and apologetic when they have been in the wrong. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Hope everything works out for you.

Although you are showing your true class through your apology, I really don't think it's all that necessary. The posts here are sometomes informative, but always entertaining. If I didn't enjoy the communications, I wouldn't participate.

Really sorry to hear of your shoulder. I went through a similar situation a few years ago. I was an avid bicycler (double-centuries, regional races) when I shattered my hip on a training ride. It really changed my self image. No longer an athlete, and forced to fight through the daily pain of a hip held together by a number of pins.

Now I accept my non-athletic status, and spend most of my spare time working on my 914, taking photographs, or harrassing people on this BBS. When good folks like you bite back at me, it just adds to the fun...

Anyway, as Steve Martin's dad tells him in the movie "Parenthood", "You worry too much"!

Probably not but it does show class, a spinal injury taught me about how debiliating pain can be. I hope you get better soon.

Damn... From this post it sounds like this board is made up of old farts that are falling apart. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Maybe we can all get together for one of those "Viva Viagra" commercials...

I resemble that remark.
I may be a great-grandfather, but I look at some of the young girls, I feel like a teenager again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)
