So driving to work today I notice a sudden increase in valve noise on decel.
It only seems to be coming from one side and possibly one valve. I had a top end rebuild in september, new guides, valves and seats, after dropping a seat. Not as capastophic as some pics I've seen, but it did nick one piston. Question is: What does a broken ring sound like? If they do sound. And, do seats 'unseat' a bit and make noise? I've detonated a lifter before so I dont think its that. Just sounds like one valve is suddenly out of adjustment a bit. Any help on diagnosis is appreciated. |

I did a compression check last night and was surprised with 120 pounds across the board. Exactly 120, on all 4!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)
Gotta get a new tester. That cant be right. Dont think its a screw. Would be louder. I'll open it up and shove in a blank check. That oughta fix it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

Depends on a lot of things. If it gets to 100 PSI and everything is in good shape (e.g., starter and battery) then you start to worry.
120 PSI is fine. --DD |
