I'm getting ready for the Doc's SoCal clinic and since I haven't dropped the engine or tranny in the 914 yet, I figured I better get an early start.
I was working on removing the exhaust system today and ran into a snag with the nut that holds the tab on the J tube to the engine tin. It is a square nut in an awkward location and I can't figure out the right size socket. A 13mm is too big, and the 12 mm does not seem quite large enough. There doesn't seem to be enough room to get at it with a box wrench. Anyone have the trick to removing the J tube so I can remove the heater boxes? |

A square nut? I remember the J-tubes being held on by a single screw through a tab on the end of the J.

That nut is welded in place. You just need to remove the cheesehead screw (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Unless it is not what I think it is.
