If your dash is "something different" please put up a picture. I want to redo my dash but don't really wanna go stock. If you've painted, covered with something different, done anything unusual...love to see some ideas. Bet others would too.

Used a Racepak UDX street dash on my LS1 car. 3 different screens with 10 different inputs. I'm using a wide band lamba input for the A/F ratio.

If I want to do the dash in stages (top cover, dash pad, knee pad, actual basket weave covered dash), is there a logical progression? For example, does the dash cap have to be removed to replace the basket weave covering, therefore making the doing of those two together more sensible?

Since you asked for something different. This is my old car, I used a stainless steel sheet that had a basket weave design similar to the seats. It took a while to cut the pieces but I always liked the way it looked.

the basketweave and the top of the dash(vinyl) is both UNDER the dash cap... and you only want to remove that once...

QUOTE So, do it all at once. yep. btw if your basketweave is decent, leave it, clean it imo that metal veneer can get messed up easily when you pull it off to do the basketweave... but you can use a different veneer, I've seen a carbon fiber kit that looks VERY nice and almost stock-ish from the pattern in the faux-CF. |

Yeah...who had the carbon fiber kit. I saw it and can't remember where. They also had a cheesy (IMNSHO) looking wood grain one too. Thought it was Camp 914, but seems it isn't.

dunno, I saw one in the flesh tho, that was an AA kit(can be had elsewhere cheaper tho) in person it looked good, I don't think pictures would turn out well on it, because it looks like a gloss version of basketweave...
I've seen good wood grain, and bad woodgrain... if you have wood-skills, you can make a great one. I thought about this myself. I grew up building cabinets and stuff with my dad in his construction/re-modeling business... but didn't want the 914 to have wood (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I wanted a more industrial look. if I was going to put on a dash veneer again, I might use the stainless steel allen head screws to fasten it for a more machine look. oohh maybe wood dash with the metal screws?!
