I have a 73 that needs new front struts and while shopping for them, there are notes about the strut being for a Bilstein mount or a Boge mount. How do I tell which mount I have? What do I look for?

Color and part numbers.
Bilstein will be a green strut. Boge Black. I don't have the part numbers available but you can Google "Porsche Parts PDF" and go to the official site and check the 914 PDF's for your parts. 99% have Boge struts. |

In some respects it is advantageous to have the Boge strut as you can buy, Bilstein, Koni, KYB and of course Boge inserts. Jim |

.... and I also understand than the Bilstein struts are much more complicated to pull/exchange inserts than the Boges - IIRC you hae to pull most or the entire strut, vs. just the top cap to insert on the Boge. Maybe Eric, Cap'n or someone can confirm on that? |
