So in the process of getting my 914-6 on the road so I can enjoy it a little until it comes completely apart a couple of years from now, a pretty serious oil leak needs to be addressed. The problem is it was pretty bad and the PO just drove it like that. The entire back half of the car was just caked with oil and grime about a 1/4" thick. Probably a good thing because rust really would not stand a chance.

I took the car, on a flat bed tow truck, to San Jose Auto Steam Cleaning Company, 32 Stockton Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126, (408) 288-7440 and No, I am in no way affiliated with that business.

They put the car up on their lift and spent about 1 hour steam cleaning the underside of the car. The guy who did the work, John, has been there since 1977. He was very thorough and took his time. The cost was $225 which I thought was well worth it.
