My rear brake calipers pins are not shaped the same one is straight and one has several ridges.My question is does it matter witch position their in.

There is a difference. The original brake pads had one mounting hole larger than the other. Most of the ones you can get now have both holes the same size.

I don't know why it was done that way. I don't know what difference it makes.
