I am purchasing a 74 914 from across country and I asked the owner if the driver seat tilts and he said it doesn't. I have owned 3 914's (all 73's) and they all had the seat tilt, but they also all had the appearence group, while this 74 does not. Is the seat tilt an option or is it more likely the seller isn't aware of it?
Also, this car doesn't have the fog lights in the front bumper, where can I find all the parts necessary to add them? Do I need to find used parts or does some aftermarket company make a kit with the lights and switch? Finally, can anyone provide a list of everything that was included in the "apperence group" option? |

My 74 has a tilt seat. I believe the earlier ones 70 and 71 did not. Check around for the foglights, there are plenty of them out there. I opted to purchase and install the Pilot driving lights. The foglight wiring will be behind the bumper and the hole for the foglight switch is behind the vinyl next to the other switches. Just have to cut away some of the vinyl after locating the hole. Real easy to do...and welcome to the board. You have come to the right place for all your 914 needs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My 74's seat tilts. I bet yours does too. Here's a link to an aftermarket fog/driving light thread. Lights
I just finished it on my car. I'd like to try it out tonight but the car has to stay put. Too many Fat Tires. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif) Dave |

ALL years had driver's seat that tilts and moves. The early
models didn't have a movable passenger seat, that is easy to see because the seat back is integral to the interior backpad. |

QUOTE(mskala @ May 1 2004, 07:53 PM) ALL years had driver's seat that tilts and moves. The early models didn't have a movable passenger seat, that is easy to see because the seat back is integral to the interior backpad. My bad. I even have a 70 in the garage. I had to go double check....Yep they tilt (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) The pilots work really well... Attached image(s) |
