Visited TCE last friday-saturday in Essen, Germany. Exhibition for classic sports cars and other stuff. Two days was a little too short time to see all what's interesting. There was some car selling auctions too. Prices were something that I did not understand, asking price for restored 914-4 -74 was 55000€ and selling price for restored metal silver 914-6 -70 was 100000€!!!!! Car was restored by Porsche Classics but still the price was unbelieveble. Looked nice..

15 hours walking was tuff but German beer and sausages are good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

+300 pics (inc. those 914:s) under this link:

Porsche Classics did not want to use flared rockers. This way they can use wider tires and original rockers. Not for my taste..

wow! jukka, thanks so much for sharing this. it's awesome to get a glimpse of other country's car culture!

so, was it a "sausage fest" (mostly men) or are women there into cars too?

Jukka,
Great photos. I really enjoy seeing the "Old Worlds' " car culture. There certainly was some serious automotive hardware on display. Thank you for posting all those photos, and...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png)

Great shots, thank you for taking the tie to post these.

Is the conda green 914/6 a GT tribute car or the real deal? I didn't see it listed on the known GT vin #'s on the world site.

Thank you! This green one is made by Mittelmotor gmbh. It looks great but is not real thing. Mittelmotors (=middle engine) stand was nice, there was three differet stage 2l sixes build. 160-200-220hp versions. There was price tags too, cheapist was 12k€..
I had very good talk with their race engineers about how to strenghten body properly. I feel tempted to let them do all body work of mine 6 but lets see price tag first...

btw that green GT-clone has FIA pass.

IIRC, it was the Marathon de la Route. 1970 or 1971.

The Marathon never got much press in the U.S. Neat concept, but I bet it was really tough on cars, drivers, and pit crews.

not really ... the 1st owner brought the car to body shop "Hans Priesner & Sohn" in April 1970, just after he bought the car at Porsche shop "Hahn" (all in Stuttgart)
they changed the original fenders and repainted the areas

the car was only used/registered from April 16, 1970 up to August 31, 1971 and is fully documented

I was there too ... This is an awesome event. About 2500 cars for sale.
I know the 914-4 that is for sale at 55k. I have driven it. It's an incredible restoration.
There was a booth where they had 9 (Nine) Mercedes 300 SL for sale ...

Funny, I asked payed price twice and got 100k€ bouth times. Where did you get this price?
Anyway it does not matter, 86k€ is quite fair price (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Johannes, that 914-4 looked great! There was one minor thing that my eye picked up, vertical chrome trim in left sail panel was placed a bit odd position. I think whole sail panel was thicker than usually..Did you notice that or was it only my fasination (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Maybe next year we shall meet there? Gustl and Johannes what do you think?
