OK everyone, take a deep breath. Sit back and relax. I know all of you who are attending want your car to be perfect, but if you have a lot to do please don't stress over it. The #1 priority should be a safe/reliable car. Cosmetics are another story.

There will be plenty (hopefully) of more WCCs in the future for your car to look its best.

We now return you to your original thread.

What Sean is trying to say is that if your car doesn't look like Rich Johnson's or Thomas Blizniks, then don't showup. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Just kidding. Hey just showup, we don't care what it looks like just be there.

Mine doesn't have an engine in it right now, is that ok?

Hopefully it will go back in next weekend...

I know there are some nice cars out there but, perfection and 914's don't belong in the same sentence. I think they all have pimples. It's just a case of how much Covergirl you put on. You gotta love the warts and all. Get them safe and get them there then let's have a party.

I got a feeling Thurday night gonna be a bunch of beer and a giant 914 work party. Nothin better than a couple of guys workin and about 10 guys shouting advice.

Can't Wait

i second that! i have yet to see a "perfect" one.
probably also because "perfect" can mean something completely different to different people. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

i have seen quite a few very nice ones!
but i like the ratty ones too, so don't hesitate to come out and play, the worst that can happen to your ratty car at the WCC is that everyone will "sign it" with some rattle-can spray paint!

I hope not...I don't think the nice people at Avis would like it if I returned their Camero with a new paint job.

Heck don't worry about how nice your car is for the WCC, I'm not even bring one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I think I'm gonna get one of these installed. I've been freaking out about having the car back together before the WCC.

Yep. Everyone can come admire my beautiful paint job and shoddy interior. I promised Brian a seat, so I have to at least get that installed before the 4th. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I need to get all my lights working though, and fix the low gas light.

Hey Craig (Boxstr.)
Thanks for the kind words. It's the people not the cars that make this great club. Just because a few of us are anal & sit on the big porch dosn't mean everyone has to do it. There's no such thing as a perfect car. There's always someone building the next dream 914. Wait till Karl (Orlando) hits the road with his beauty. He will set the standards for the next generation of dream 914's.

My enjoyment was the learning process and the friends made along the way. Everyone starts with a project. I encourage everyone who can attend to show support for Jeff (and the others) for their dedicated service to the 914 club. If your car don't run, tie a 914 part around your neck and attend anyway.

Tom Bliznik
P.S. I wish I could attend. I can't wait for the pictures and event news to hit the web. I believe this event will wake up the 911 Wine & Cheese Porsche guys. Now everyone will want one.

current state of 914 as of May 24th:

no doors, no interior ( nothing but a roll cage and a bare dash, no carpet.....), wiring harness not installed from the fuse panel back, no wheels, broken drivers side rear brake caliper (inboard adjuster screw stripped, pads way too close to rotor), shift linkage not installed, cables not hooked up.......windshield not installed

good news is that the motor is installed, but I now have 4 exhaust studs that need replacing on the 3-4 side of the motor..........nothing hooked up to the engine, I still need to fabricate a new wiring harness for the fuel injection

and to top it off, the wife pretty much insists that I have some sort of interior (she's pissed off that the roll cage replaced the backpad) and she wants a working radio before our drive down to Monterey that Friday.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

I thought I had it bad, I also thought this thread was for me. I got some more parts today but the main one that I need didnt come. Cant put the engine in till I get the timing cover installed. What makes everything worse, this morning my back went into muscle spasms and I went into some heavy pain. I have had these before and the doctors tell me it is brought on by stress. Looks like I will be off for a few days nursing it back to normal. In the mean time, maybe the rest of my parts will show up.
