Had converted my 1973 to a /6 15 years ago and had an engine failure at a track day, and it has been apart and in boxes since. Finally decided it was long enough without my 914 in my life, so started to get it back together. Here are few pics of what I have been up for the last few months in my spare time.

Engine: 2.4 w/ 2.2 S pistons, Solex Cams, 40 IDT Webers

Very cool fan shroud, where is that from?! I like the whole direction of the engine, it looks just plain mean! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Nice Stude. My engine setup is similar, but I haven't driven mine yet. While your car was running, how was the engine performance one the track? About how much HP/Torque do you think you were making? Nice looking engine.

I've heard of using the 2.2S pistons on the 2.4 engine. How much does that change the HP and compression? The engine looks great!

2.4 S with 2.2 s pistons and with the head work that was done should yield about 10:1 compression. As for the power, a friend has this same exact engine and it makes about 160 Hp to the wheels and the power band is very wide with the Solex cams. His early 911 with this engine is seriously fast like beating similar cars with 3.0l engines.

Stude is not mine. My friends car who is helping build this engine. Cool car thought.

Thanks for the positive replies. I was told that the nice paint gives it 10 more Hp so glad I painted all the pieces ...lol

Can wait to hear it run. Kind of nervous after so long yet very excited. It should be real quick.

Engine is up in car finally. MSD Wired and most of the electrical systems redone and checked. Added Autometer Oil temp gauge as well.

Getting closer. Just need to fabricate oil lines and fuel lines and should be ready to go.

Well it has been a long road, but the engine finally fired up...really exciting. Had some odd oil one right side of engine, but after wiping it and running the engine for 20 minutes it was no longer leaking...will address it as it comes. At least after all this time and fabricating, it all worked properly. Took my son for a ride up around block in second gear..he was happy...hes only 7. Loves the car for some odd reason.

Did not have time to get pics of my oil cooler set-up but will post up some as I get it buttoned up and on the road...been a long journey

Nice to read this and see the photos of your progress. Get that boy out there and put a wrench in his hand. He'll never forget it.

Excellent. With the exception of the cams, I'm building the same engine.
