New Wevo'd 915 from the boys in Phoenix and Tangerine Racing Evo 6 exhaust system all bolted up.
Fired up the engine today after not being run for 12 years! Got oil pressure after a couple of cranks and then she sputtered into life. Webers were dismantled, cleaned and new gasket set fitted beforehand they still need tuning though. Couple of questions re: transmission. What is the recommended oil to use with the 915? Diff is a Wave Trac torque biasing unit. The clearance between the rear shift linkage rod and the headers appears to be very close. Although I haven't bolted it in yet, I fear the rod may contact the exhaust when attempting to shift. Anyone else running this set-up? Thanks again and all comments welcome. Interesting header pipe guide/direction
What are the reasons for this? |

Interesting header pipe guide/direction What are the reasons for this? I'm not really sure but I think this design gives a longer primary pipe by comparison to the type that go out to the side. Definitely improves the ground clearance and allows for easier removal of the driveshafts. It looks pretty cool too. Phil |

Phil Both the primaries and secondaries have a tuned length, as opposed to most -6 headers which are designed for convenience and don't have optimized secondaries. |

Couple of questions re: transmission. What is the recommended oil to use with the 915? Diff is a Wave Trac torque biasing unit. Phil, That all looks very nice! Regarding the transmission lubrication. Internally the 915 is not that different than a 901 (same type of synchros, etc.) It is the post 915 transmissions that have the Borg Warner style synchro that might need a different oil as is used in a 901/915. I would ask your transmission builder for their opinion and with respect to the TB Diff, I am assuming the manufacture would also provide lubrication recommendations. As this is a TB and not a clutch type, I am thinking that you should be able to use regular GL-5 WITHOUT needing something that has LSD specific friction modifiers. I have typed up this document awhile back and it might help... http://www.blueskymotorsports.com/index.ph...16&Itemid=6 Richard |

Thanks for the comments.
Headers are Tangerine Racing Evo 6. I'm using their dual outlet muffler also. Edwin, engine is 2.4 E. I have 3.0 that's waiting to go in after a few tweeks. Chris, thanks for the clarification on pipe design. Thanks for the link, Richard. Phil |

As per Hayden at WEVO, you should be using Swepco.

As per Hayden at WEVO, you should be using Swepco. -Britain I didn't think Swepco was readily available here. Most people were importing directly from the US themselves till very recently. After googling Swepco Australia, it turns out there is an importer here and their very first shipment arrives in about a week. I spoke to them just now and placed an order for the 201 product. Thanks for prompting that Britain. Here is a picture of the linkage clearance issue I refer to. Thoughts and comments welcome as usual Phil Attached image(s) ![]() |

I put the 4cyl car with a WEVO (that I mentioned in an email) up on the lift this afternoon.
As far as I can tell, at the tranny connection, the WEVO shift rod is a couple inches higher than the stock sideshift. It isn't any farther to the left though, so there really should be no interference when both ends are connected. |

As far as I can tell, at the tranny connection, the WEVO shift rod is a couple inches higher than the stock sideshift. It isn't any farther to the left though, so there really should be no interference when both ends are connected. The linkage ended fitting really nicely without any modification. No issues with fouling the exhaust and I can actually shift through a tight 'H' pattern now rather than the giant, vague 'O' pattern of the old 901. If anyone is requiring an exhaust system for their /6 they would be hard pressed to find anything that comes close to the TR Evo 6 in terms of value, quality, appearance and design. Thanks for all of your help Chris. Phil Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() |
