Has anyone here actually measured thier cam timing? I have given it a rough go and found my results did not match the book. Intake 12 BT 42 AB Exh. 43 BB 4 AT is what the book says. I used a dial indicator on the valve itself. I may have the wrong cam. Please chime in engine builders. What actual results have people gotten?

What cam are you talking about? I did a cam not to long ago that went something like this:

Int opens 16deg BTDC
INt closes 48deg ABDC
Exh opens 52Deg BBDC
Exh Closes 20 Deg ATDC

Try setting them on a 4 cam Carrera engine.... took me two days last time!

I really would not worry about it with a stock cam.....

I am not sure it's a stock cam. Thats why I am asking. Things are not lining up. Motorcycles are no piece of cake either. It runs but I cannot get an idle without too much advance. Did a quick lift measurment with the help of Mark and think I may have a carb cam. .430 at the valve. I am going to check the duration and see what I have.

Dylan's getting .330 lift at the cam. I measured a new Web 73 and I get .320 lift
On the stock (used) cams I have I get about .275 at the cam, even less for a hydro.

It does have a rivet on gear and I’ve never heard of an aftermarket cam with a rivet on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

I’m at a total loss on this puppy. I’d hate to have Dylan rip out an OK cam, but things smell real fishy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
