It's got a V6 911 engine. Rare! Very nice car. I love the 904s!

'87 3.6 V-6 engine???

Looks to be a 3.6 alright (though the intake manifold looks funny, but that could just be me)

Looks like the seller is pretty clueless about what he's selling (nothing unusual for e-bay (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif))

Should be a fun car though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

cheers,

Jeroen

yeah i saw that about the motor (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) does look like a 3.6 though. Looks like a 915 box too, I gotta wonder what it's worth, and when the production one's will be available, if ever. They had one at laguna historics last year at their display, i was impressed, and if they can build them for less than 30 I think they will sell.

When they said a 'Beck 904' I was hopping it was the same Beck that makes the 550 Spyder....

It is , or was the same beck. He merged or got bought out by the avanti corp... Plus I think he has some health issues and could not do it on his own anymore.

As far as I know, he is still involved in the projects, and development, and did most of the 904 work.

Ah....then it should be a quality product!

Wasn't AA doing a 914 -> 904 body kit?

Yes, AA was doing a dino kit, using a 914 as a base, not pretty IMO.

looks nice, however the frontend looks too high and the wiring in the engine compartment could be "nicer" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

AA's kit was based on a 914, it looked like hell from the pictures I've seen.

Heh, very cool.

There is a guy in our local PCA chapter that is having one of these built. Since I'm new to the club I don't have all of the details but from the jist of it, it sounds like he has been waiting for it for quite some time. He said it was being built by the Avanti company. They just requested that he send his motor / transmission for it - he was supplying it to them.

Anyway, they do look very nice, but for 40K, I guess all I get to do is look at one. <_<

From the info I gathered when looking for the Beck 904 info Chuck was hired by Avanti Motorcars to head up their Custom Auto division. I also read that he became too busy and could not produce the 904, Spyder & Speedster and keep up with production.
His Speedsters look very nice and can be purchased complete for $19k. They are not built on VW chasis, which is nice, too.

Would it kill him to put a picture of the interior...that could make or break a purchase if I was in the market. If it looked a lot like factory it'd be a cool ride. Can't wait to see one (I'm sure it hauls with that 3.6)

Spoke to seller but decided not to bid. Sean has it about right. Note id#. This is the prototype. Seller is getting rid of this and one of the original Lister Chev's that Beck designed and built. Lovely cars, but probably will need a bit of sorting. Not good for me since seller/builder in GA.

Prbably a better car in all respects than the original 904, but will be pricey for a replica. My gues is $85k for turnkey on 904; $55k for Lister.

Randy Beck and his dad have had a Silver/Blue 904 at the Streets of Willow several times in the last two years. He nearly set TTOD on street tires the one weekend. The car hauls and he is an excellant driver. I seriously have one of these in my future, just maybe not the near future.
