I got an email from a friend of mine today with this enclosed. I thought I would post it here.

By law, they are required to > hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people > take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called > up...Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and > maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus > programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. We are on that list......
We have a bunch of empty cubes here due to reservists being called up. They are getting the difference in pay, plus beneifts, stock options, etc.... They even leave the contents of the cubes intact with the phones, computers, and personal effects. I will willingly work extra hours so they can keep their benefits and pay differential. I was just there returning a irrigation pump and noticed they have really revamed their hardware section. They had the most kick ass aluminum floor jack I have seen, I will start shopping there again

I'm very glad to hear that the management of some of our largest companies is not completely "offshore" -- or completely in outer space.
If we do not treat our active AND reserve personnel decently, then guess what, they will no longer volunteer to serve and we'll be up a creek! |
