I just built a 2270 with SDS EFI and it won’t start. If anyone in the Marietta/Kennesaw GA area would like to help trouble shoot let me know. My head is hurting from going over and over this think to see why.

P.S. I’ll buy you “drinks”…

I'm no EFI expert and I know you're confused right now but you will get it running. First off give SDS a call on Monday to see if they can help. I hear their customer support is pretty good. I assume the ECU came with a baseline software program that should get you running ? I know Jake Raby uses/used SDS in the past he might be able to help. Double check all your electrical connections. Are you using the SDS for just fuel or fuel and ignition ? Post some details on what you have done and the steps you have taken to troubleshoot the problem, there are some smart folks on this forum.

I was certainly not suggesting nor recommending AA. I have never had any dealing with them, and know nothing about them to say one way or the other. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I was just letting him know there is someone in his neighbor hood. I keep hearing "call me anytime day or night".

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) about calling SDS. I've preused their website with much interest. It will most likely be my choice fuel delivery if I build an engine bigger than the 2056. They do announce their willingness to customer service.

I really wanna build a 2270.

Mike built one of our kits from around 2007... We have tried to help him on a few occasions and I sent him a baseline SDS fuel MAP.. We are slammed with zero time through September of 2012 and I can't even get one of my own cars running. Time is a precious commodity.

The best way to approach this is the verify injector pulse, verify fuel pressure and verify spark. If these 3 are present its a matter of compression and timing. Its an engine, if it'll rotate it'll run.

I'm in Kennesaw but I suck!!! Bob might be around some, we are going to the Porsche thing at Atl motor speedway this weekend.. Next week I'll be around or you can track down Lewis Broyles.. He is pretty good at that stuff..

First I have to say that Jake and SDS have been more than helpful. I can’t say enough about both of them. They are both fantastic. And busy or not, Jake has been great at answering my questions.

Second. It rotates and builds the hell out of oil pressure.

Third, I’ve confirmed I have spark and fuel pressure. It’s getting air. But the something isn’t right with the injectors. I’ve checked the wiring and it is correct. I’ve tested the SDS and it should be firing the injectors. But it isn’t. I do think my timing is off some. I may need to rotate my dizzy. I checked number 1 at TDC and the dizzy pointed between 1 and 4. But the injectors aren’t firing.

Fourth, if any one that wants to help I will be around Saturday Nov 12 afternoon and all of Sunday Nov 13. I think I’m over looking something.

Fifth, I think my wife now believes the car will never run.

Power to the injector harness?? The 12 gUge red wire feeds the injector harness, where do you have it connected? Pop an injector out and stick it into a jar and see if you have fuel spray...
Having fuel pressure doesn't mean everything...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I just went through this on a V8 powerd 914. It had plenty of pressure at the rail and to the injectors, but NONE of the injectors were actually firing. Turned out that on a chevy, if one injector has an internal short it keeps the whole batch from firing. Pulled the plug on that one and the car fired right up. Plugged it back in and the car died and wouldn't restart. Common enough issue htat the fix for the chevy guys is to replace the stock GM ( Sorenson IIRC) injectors with Bosch units (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yep and if this happens it can pop a circuit in the ECU. Grab a noid light and use it to check the injector signal.

I'm guessing that is it. I had to replace my SDS board because it wasn't firing the injectors. We confirmed it was a bad/blown board.

I'm betting it is a bad injector...

I'll test them tonight. Node light first for the signal. Then the injector.
